- On November 4, 1942, four recovering alcoholics, who recognized a need for members of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) to have a safe place to go to between meetings, founded The Twelve Step Club.
- The first club was a rented third floor. one room apartment at 159 Orange street. The chief goal of its membership was and is to help other alcoholics achieve and maintain sobriety.
- As time passed, the club grew in popularity and in 1952, in order to accommodate the increasing membership; they acquired the entire third floor at this address.
- In the mid to late 1970's, redevelopment forced the club to relocate. At that time they established residence at 5 Elm Street. On May2, 1982, the club moved to 270 Grand avenue in New Haven. Then on May 1, 1990, they moved to 63 Hamilton street.
- On February 12, 1996, the club moved to 867 Jones Hill road West Haven and on May 1, 2011, we moved to 111 Elm Street West Haven, CT.
